Back It Up Reversible Hat Free Knitting Pattern

Oh you know we just love our community of guest designers here at Stitch & Hustle and bringing back Afifa Sayeed to do a wintry love design was a no brainer and a big YES!

Here, the Back It Up Reversible Hat Free Knitting Pattern is a perfect marriage in both classic style and simple to complete design work.

I love that one side of the Back It Up Reversible Hat Free Knitting Pattern is almost a classic beanie and an opportunity to let the yarn be the star and show off some of your favorite yarns.

And on the other side, a bit of hidden awesomeness in winter lace knitting.

I know, I know. Lace for winter? Yep!

The beauty of the design of the Back It Up Reversible Hat Free Knitting Pattern is that because one side is a bit of classic knit, it gives you the wonderful warmth so you have some fun lace on the other side and never get cold!

Lace in winter is possible with this magical set!

A note about the lace for this hat - Afifa created a lace pattern that doesn’t let the “reverse” side show through too much. So you truly get the illusion of a winter lace hat!

Special thank you to Knit Picks for providing yarn support for this collaboration. Their yarns were perfect for this combo giving us a pop of surprise on one side and a neutral classic on the other.

So mix and match colors and have fun making the one set you will need to get through winter!

PCO - Provisional cast-on:

Using scrap yarn, make a slip knot on the crochet hook. Begin with the yarn to the back of the knitting needle.

Wrap the yarn around the crochet hook and pull through the slip stitch. The yarn is now in the front of the knitting needle.

Bring the yarn over the tip of the needle so it is to the back of the needle. Repeat the last step until the desired number of stitches are cast on plus 4.

Cut the waste yarn, and pull the tail end through the last loop on the crochet hook. Pop the extra 4 stitches off the needle. These will be a marker for which end to unravel the cast-on from when you are ready to work your live stitches.
