HOW TO CLOSE YOUR BEANIE

The first thing you want to do is always add at least one or two decrease rounds to the top of your hat. This helps you to create the rounded shape within the body of the hat. You do not have to do drastic decreases, but every bit helps determine the shape if the hat. Whatever your pattern calls for, you can add a single crochet round decreasing just a few stitches. Then that single crochet round becomes your final hat round. Fasten off the last stitch and leave about a 10 inch tail.

Following this diagram, you want to weave the tail in and out of the last round of the hat body.

Once you have thread the tail through the last round of stitches, you want to pull tight. This is how you create the "star" shape with five points.

Once you have your "star" shape, you take the thread and pick up the 5 points and pull them back to the center to fasten them down. and Voila! The star shaped closure for your brim up beanie.
