Oh yes! I Totally jump for joy when it is summer crochet season. I wear them to festivals, the beach, the pool, everywhere basically.  I will toss something light and handmade over my swimsuit and instantly be fashionable for any event! The Islamorada Tank Top was inspired by my time in the Florida Keys and all the fabulous crochet I would see around town. I am so excited to share the pattern here with you for free.

MATERIALS:
Category #3 DK weight yarn
Main Color (Black):  160 (180, 200, 210, 230) yds
Contrast / Rainbow: 5 yds each rainbow color plus gray (all sizes)
Pain Box Yarns Cotton DK used for design
Crochet Hook Size H-5 / 5 mm
Tapestry needle to weave ends
Tape Measure
Fasteners or safety pins (2)

Sizes: Extra Small (Small, Medium, Large, 1X)
This pattern is written for Adult Woman size Extra Small. (Sizes Small, Med, Large, 1X in parentheses)

Finished Measurements:
Bust: 32 (36, 40, 42, 46)”

GAUGE: 4” sq  =  12 sts  x 9 rows  in hdc stitch

PATTERN NOTES:
The pattern is written in rainbow colors. You can make this in a single color and just skip the color changes or make your own color scheme.

This tank is made in pieces. First you will make your Rainbow or centerpiece. You will then make the top of the back panel. After joining the two panels, the lower part of the top are worked downward in the round

FRONT PANEL – RAINBOW:

COLOR A: (RED)
Row 1: In magic circle, ch 2 (acts as first dc here and throughout), 8 dc, Turn. (9 total dc incl. ch 2)
Row 2: Ch 1 (does NOT act as a st here and throughout), 9 sc, Turn.

COLOR B: (ORANGE)
Row 3: Ch 2, dc in same, 2 dc in each sc around, Turn. (18 total dc incl. ch 2)
Row 4: Ch 1, 18 sc, Turn.

COLOR C: (YELLOW)

Rotate work 90 degrees and continue along the bottom of the rainbow, working 48 (54, 60, 63, 69) sc along bottom edge, join with sl st to first sc of row. Fasten off.

BACK PANEL

Row 1: Fhdc 48 (54, 60, 63, 69), turn.
Rows 2-4 (6, 8, 10, 12): Ch 1 (does not act as a st), 48 (54, 60, 63, 69) hdc across.
Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY:
You will now assemble the bralette / top portion of the tank before moving forward.

Marry the 2 panels.
Using mattress stitch, join at each side. Sew sides of Back Panel to first and last 5 (7, 9, 11, 13) sts of Row 17 (19, 21, 23, 25) of Front Panel.

SKIRTING:
Rejoin Main Color at center of back panel.

Rounds 1 - 2: Ch 1 (does NOT act as a st), 96 (108, 120, 126, 138) hdc around.
Round 3: Ch 5, * skip 2 hdc, sc in next hdc, ch 5 *, repeat * to * around, sk last 2 hdc, sl st to base of ch 5 that started round to complete.
Round 4: Sl st x 2 to get to 3rd ch of ch 5 starting previous row, then: * ch 5, sc into next ch 5 group *, repeat * to * around, ch 5, sl st to base of ch 5 that started round to complete
Rounds 5-6: Repeat Round 4.
Round 7: Sl st x 2 to get to 3rd ch of ch 5 starting previous row, Ch 1 (does NOT act as a st), sc in same, * Ch 2, sc into 3 rd ch of next ch 5 group * repeat * to * around to end with ch 2 then sl st into first sc at beginning of Round.
Round 8: Ch 1 (does NOT act as a st), * hdc in sc, 2 hdc in ch 2 sp * repeat * to * around to end, then sl st into first hdc at beginning of round. 96 (108, 120, 126, 138) hdc

NOTE: For longer skirt add Rounds here, you may require more yarn.
Fasten Off

STRAPS:
Rejoin Main Color at front panel ch 1 of strap opening.

Rows 1 & 2: Ch 9 (9, 10, 10, 11) (acts as dc & ch 7 (7, 8, 8, 9)), dc in last ch, Turn.
Row 3: Ch 8 (8, 9, 9, 10) (acts as dc & ch 6 (6, 7, 7, 8)), dc in last ch, Turn.
Repeat Row 3 to desired strap length and fast to back panel.
Repeat on other side.
