The Country Road Quick Cowl

I love this simple and quick cowl. It works up SO FAST and is fantastic for the fellas. I wear mine when I snowboard and need the warm at my neck but do not want the bulk of a full on scarf.

Materials:
1 skein Lion Brand Wool Ease Yarn
or Approximately 98 yards of any bulky Category 6 yarn
Crochet Hook Size P - 15mm
Large needle to weave ends

Stitches Used / Abbreviations
fhdc - foundation half double crochet
sc – single crochet
hdc –  half-double crochet
dc – double crochet
ch – chain loop
sl st – slip stitch


PATTERN NOTES:

There is no gauge. If you find yourself stitching too loosely, drop down to hook size N-10mm.
***DO NOT TURN YOUR WORK AFTER EACH ROW. CONTINUE IN THE SAME DIRECTION THROUGHTOUT THE PROJECT***

Round 1: fhdc 40, SL ST  together to create large circle.  This will be your cowl base and shape / length
***Be VERY careful not to twist the chain. This will affect the overall look of the finished cowl***

If you do not know fhdc, you can do ch 40, turn. Then ch 1 (does NOT act as stitch) and 40 hdc around and sl st together.

Round 2:
ch 2, hdc in the BACK LOOP ONLY,  sl st to top of ch 2 to complete round - 40 hdc  total incl. ch 2
***this is what gives you the effect of a cable line around the cowl***

Rounds 3 - 6:
ch 2; dc in each st around, sl st to top of ch 2 to complete round - 40 dc  total incl. ch 2

Round 7:
ch 2, hdc in each dc around,  sl st to top of ch 2 to complete round - 40 hdc  total incl. ch 2

Round 8:
ch1,  hdc in the BACK LOOP ONLY, sl st to top of ch 2 to complete round - 40 hdc  total incl. ch 2
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
