West Fourth Scarf Free Crochet Pattern

Next up in my Shapes Of Things series of scarves and shawls is the West Fourth Scarf, named for the amazing West 4th Street, NYC. Yup I named a scarf for a New York City street.

Listen, it is a magical street. Like none other in the world.

Not just because of the rich history, but the simplicity and design of it. West 4th Street somehow intersects with West 10th, 11th AND 12th Streets. I mean COME ON! Sure there is an actual historical reason - but to call it magical is a much better reason I think. In truth - a little NYC history lesson for you here... Grenwhich Village was exempt from adopting the strict grid structure of the rest of the city and so it remains a wacky awesome place of alleys and cobblestone streets and narrow roads. Look at a map of Greenwhich Village, NYC and see how amazing it is. That map and those streets inspired this scarf because some things intersect, some don't and some times a triangle is a rectangle!!

I chose the new ZZ Twist yarn from Lion Brand because it also has a special DNA in the twist. Seemed like just the perfect fit! This is a great scarf to work up for guys and gals and you can have some fun by adding tassles if you like. And thank you to Lion Brand for providing the yarn for this design!
