Sanctuary Revisited Crochet Triangle Shawl Free Pattern
/The Sanctuary Revisited Crochet Shawl is the hook-in-hand answer to a question every crocheter knows by heart : where is my go-to shawl pattern? This free crochet triangle shawl pattern is built from a center spine out, growing row by row into a dramatic, drape-worthy wrap that looks far more complex than it stitches up.
Worked in sections that alternate between half double crochet and open treble crochet rows, the pattern creates gorgeous textural contrast without ever making you stop and think twice. This shawl was part of Stitch Up Chicago 2026 and is now available right here on the blog.
We loved making all the different versions of this shawl!
Crocheted in Asylum Fibers DK on a 5mm hook, this pattern is intentionally written gauge-free — because the goal is fabric you love, not numbers you chase. Choose the kerchief-style one-skein version for a chic, lightweight shoulder piece, or work the full two-skein triangle for a shawl that commands the room.
The magic circle start, the self-building spine, the alternating stitch sections — every detail was designed to keep your hook moving and your mind present.
Born from the same Stitch Up Chicago energy that launched the knit Sanctuary Shawl, this crochet version is its own creature entirely. Same soul. Different craft. All yours.
