Hey Chicago: Tell Me About Your Rhinebeck Sweater 2020

Ready for some fiber fun!?!?!?!

We have something very special for anyone in the Chicago area (or anywhere in the world really) who is ready for some safe, socially distanced Fiber Fun. Once again, finding a way to come together while apart!

This was actually going to be my very first year attending the NY Sheep & Wool festival (aka Rhinebeck)  Sure Flat Michele has attended the last 2 years in a row, but this year I was going to be there in the flesh. My bestie, and our very own blog helper, Abbey got to go experience Rhinebeck 3 years ago and I knew this was my year to check it out. I was going to crochet my first “ Rhinebeck Sweater” and be in my friend Kristy Glass’ annual video: Tell Me About Your Rhinebeck Sweater. I had my travel plans, had booked a house with a friend and had a special secret project I have been working on ready to launch at the event. But nope. Covid had other plans.

Yes, Covid has put quite the damper on all of our fiber festival plans for 2020. But this is where we have to be creative and not let the virus steal all our fiber joy. Kristy Glass has decided to take this opportunity to expand her Tell Me About Your Rhinebeck Sweater video to go virtual for 2020 and I have teamed up with the gals at Nina Chicago  for something very special for you to be part of it!

We have selected some amazing patterns (for every level of both knitter & crocheter).

We have also teamed up with local indie dyer Kraeo & the Nina Chicago house blend, Movers & Makers yarns to put together some fantastic kits for you to make each of these beauties. AND… when you get the yarn for your project the pattern is on the house! WHAT? Yup… the team at Nina Chicago will treat you to the pattern when you select one of these great patterns for your Rhinebeck Sweaters.

Then join us showing off your sweater at a special 2 day event Friday October 2nd & Saturday October 3rd where we will record our videos to submit! And if you cannot e there in person, follow directions below to submit your sweater video by email!

How does it work?

1. Call or email the shop to get your yarn & pattern. (Remember, the pattern is on the house!)

Tel: (773) 486-8996
Email:  info@ninachicago.com

2. Call or email to book your time slot for the video event. Time lots will be in ten minute increments and have ten minutes between them to allow us time to clean and practice safety measures. Group photos will be scheduled based on number of people in the video. We have multiple options for groups up to 6 people so this is a great time to gather your fiber friends. Masks required.

Friday October 2nd will be at the Bean for outdoor styling.

Saturday October 3rd will be at the shop.

All videos by appointment only!

And here is the best part - we will do all the work for you. You do not have to be tech savvy or have any special phone or camera - we have you covered. Want to be in the video with friends? We have that covered too! We have socially distanced opportunities so everyone can be involved.

We will have prizes and lots of fun stuff too!
