/I designed this classic knit beanie for the Stunning String Learn To Knit Series. It is great for beginners or experienced knitters who want to achieve the classic beanie look. Great for the guys and the gals and works up quickly. Make it in your favorite color of Cozy Aran yarn and add some extra rows if you want a bit more slouch too.

US 10.5 / 6.5 mm 16” circular knitting needles
Tapestry needle to weave ends
Tape Measure
Stitch Marker
Stitches Used / Abbreviations:
K – knit
P – purl
K2tog – knit two stitches together
CO – cast on
st(s)- stitch (es)
CO 73, join together being careful not to twist using the following method:
BO the 1st stitch, 72 sts remain
Place Marker
Slip your marker over each time you pass it marking a completed round
BRIM:
Ribbed Stitch:
R1: [k2, p2] repeat around
Repeat R1 until reaches approx.. 3 inches
HAT BODY:
Stockinette Stitch:
R1: k around
Repeat R1 until reaches approx.. 8 inches from brim
HAT PEAK:
R1: k2tog around, 36 sts remain
R2: k around
R3: k2tog around, 18 sts remain
R4: k around
R5: k2tog around, 9 sts remain
R6: k around
Cut a long 6” tail
Using your tapestry needle, thread the tail through the live stitches still on the needles
Pull the needles out
Pull the tail tight like a drawstring
Tie off
Weave In all ends!
