Kingston Chunky Infinity Scarf & Cowl Free Crochet Pattern
/One of my favorite things to do is create designs that are versatile so they can work for a variety of people. This Kingston Cowl AND Infinity Scarf free crochet pattern does just that. You can truly customize this to the width and length that works for you. Make it as gifts for those who love cowls with just ONE BALL of Lion Brand Vel-Luxe Yarn or as a longer infinity scarf for those who love to wrap themselves up in cozy warmth. As you can see below - I am all about that extra cozy!
Materials
Lion Brand Vel-Luxe -Category 4 Medium Worsted Weight Yarn
1 Ball / 246 yards for cowl
2 Balls / 246 yards for infinity scarf
Color Shown: Silver Grey
Crochet Hook Size I-9/5.5 mm
Tapestry needle to weave ends
Tape Measure
Stitches Used / Abbreviations:
ch – chain loop
hdc – half double crochet
fhdc – foundation half double crochet
ps – puff stitch (see stitch detail below)
st(s) – stitch(es)
sp – space
sl st – slip stitch
Pattern Puff Stitch (PS) :
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into st, wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 3 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into same ch sp, wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 5 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into same ch sp, wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 7 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook into same ch sp, wrap yarn over hook & pull through leaving 9 loops on hook
Wrap yarn over hook and pull through ALL 9 loops to create the “puff” stitch

GAUGE: 12 sts x 9 Rows in hdc = 4” square

INFINITY SCARF: 9” wide / circumference 66”

ROUND 1: fhdc x66 (x150), sl st together ***Be VERY careful not to twist when you connect***
ROUND 2: ch 1 (does NOT act as a st), *PS, ch 1, skip fhdc, PS in next fhdc, ch 1, skip fhdc*
Repeat * to * around, sl st to top of first PS from round
ROUND 3: ch 1 (does NOT act as a st), hdc in each st around, sl st to first hdc to complete the round
ROUND 4: ch 1 (does NOT act as a st), *PS, ch 1, skip hdc, PS in next hdc, ch 1*
Repeat * to * around, sl st to top of first PS from round
ROUNDS 5- 25 (21): Repeat Rounds 3 & 4 alternating, ending in Round 3.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
