2020 Moogly CAL Stitch & Hustle Square
/I am so excited that Stitch & Hustle is part of the 2020 Moogly CAL! Like so excited that when I got the invitation to design a square I might have literally jumped for joy! I met Tamara of Moogly several years ago when we attended an event. Our flights landed at the same time so we decided to share a taxi… and that’s all she wrote. A fabulous yarny friendship was born. I have long admired the Moogly CAL for it’s genius way of making an afghan seem less overwhelming. It is just ONE SQUARE AT A TIME!

MATERIALS:
Red Heart With Love Yarn
COLOR A: White
COLOR B: Lilac
COLOR C: Aubergine
Crochet Hook Size US J / 6mm
PROJECT STITCH ABBREVIATIONS:
Fsc – foundation single crochet
ch – chain loop
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sshdc – spiked stitch hdc (see below)
st(s) – stitch(es)
SPECIAL PATTERN STITCH - sshdc:
Wrap yarn over hook; insert hook one row below the next st
Wrap yarn over hook & pull through, pulling it up to the height of the working row
Wrap yarn over hook & pull through ALL 3 loops to create the “sshdc” stitch
*** I place my hook into the sshdc of the previous row for effect. See photo.

Row 2: ch 1, 21 sc across. Turn.
Color B:
Row 3: ch 1, 3 sc, *3 sshdc, 3 sc*; Repeat * to * across. Turn.
Row 4: ch 1, 21 sc across. Turn.
Color C:
Row 5: ch 1, 3 sc, *3 sshdc, 3 sc*; Repeat * to * across. Turn.
Row 6: ch 1, 21 sc across. Turn.
Color B:
Row 7: ch 1, 3 sc, *3 sshdc, 3 sc*; Repeat * to * across. Turn.

ROUND 1: ch 1, * sc across to corner, (2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc) in corner; sc in every other row across the side to corner;* repeat * to * once more, sc, sl st to top of first sc.
ROUND 2: ch 1, * sc across to corner, (2 sc, ch 1, 2 sc) in corner, * Repeat * to * all way around to ch1,
sl st to top of first sc
Fasten off.
