Flatiron Asymmetrical Triangle Shawl Free Crochet Pattern

The Flatiron Shawl is another exploration into Shawls Of A New Shape, combining my love and inspiration of architecture with my love for crochet design. Inspired by the history and structure of the Flatiron Building in New York City, and NYC heart, this shawl takes a you on a stitch journey way beyond the traditional triangle shawl. I used a small variation on the Puff Stitch to illustrate the windows and used two separate increase techniques to get the shape.

I had so much fun designing this and hope you enjoy making them.

PATTERN NOTES:

GAUGE:  18 sts x 26 Rows in sc = 4” square
Begin with magic circle or ch 3, sl st together to form a circle.
Because of the way this pattern increases you will likely get a curl on the increase side.
That will come out in blocking and you will see significant change in finished measurements after blocking.

Finished measurements BEFORE blocking:  63” x 51” x 31”
Finished measurements AFTER blocking:74” x 62” x 36”
This pattern is best served with WET Blocking. See my blocking tips here.
