Blanket Wrap Free Crochet Pattern

I am one of those people who things we should be able to be cozy AND stylish. I also think wearing blankets in public should be more common. With that in mind, I give you the Abbington Wrap. It’s a scarf. It’s a wrap. It’s a blanket you can wear in public and with 2 strategically placed buttons you will always be in style AND cozy!
The great thing about this pattern is that you can really make it with whatever yarn you want. Just adjust the hook size for the yarn you are using and worry less about stitch count and more about meeting the measurements. I have made this in worsted weight and bulky weight and love them both!
Stitches Used / Abbreviations:
fdc – foundation double crochet
sc – single crochet
ch – chain loop
sl st – slip stitch
dc – double crochet
tr – treble crochet
sts - stitches
Supply List:
Worsted Weight Category 4 Yarn – Approx 635 Yards
Crochet Hook Size L-8 / 7mm
2 Buttons approx. 2” diameter
Quilting needle to sew button & weave ends
NOTE ABOUT SUPPLIES:
Those listed above are for the worsted weight version.
For the Chunky Version I used category 5 weight yarn and size N / 10mm hook. The Gauge will be different so you want to reach the measurements and not worry about gauge.
Gauge: 8 dc sts x 6 rows = 4” for category 4 yarn
FINISHED GARMENT: Approx 56” long & 15.5” wide
CENTER BODY:
ROW 1: fdc x 90 (approx. 45”)
ROWS 2-23: ch2 (acts as first dc), 89 dc all way across for total 90 dc each row (incl ch 2)
Fasten off but leave long tail to affix buttons later
SIDE PANELS:
Starting at the corner of the completed body on each side:
ROW 1: ch1 (acts as first sc); 45 sc across, placing 2 sc in each dc space (total 46 sc across incl ch 1)
ROWS 2 – 5: ch 3 (acts as first tr), 45 tr across, (total 46 tr across incl ch 3)
ROW 6: ch1 (acts as first sc); 45 sc across (total 46 sc across incl ch 1)
Fasten Off & Weave In ends
ADD YOUR BUTTONS:
Affix buttons on the center body approx. 3 inches in from the side panel and 2” in from the edge row.
Place buttons approx. 3” apart from each other as shown.
