I am so beyond thrilled to share the first design in my new Shapes Of Things Series; The Amsterdam Crochet Your Fade Shawl free crochet pattern. This asymmetrical crochet scarf will let you tell your color story and be wrapped in style.
When I went to New York for Vogue Knitting Live I was overwhelmed by all of the beautiful knit shawl creations. It got me thinking about ways to create new crochet shawls with the same concept. I knew it would be an asymmetrical design and thought about Amsterdam Avenue in NYC - one long continuous Avenue that changes with the cityscape. Truly this Avenue changes seamlessly from Tenth Avenue to Amsterdam Avenue without even a bump. I wanted a shawl to do that in a color story.
And if you read my VKL haul recap then you know how much fun I had (and yarn I bought) at the Stephen & Penelope Booth. In particular - a huge stash of Undercover Otter and a heaps of fun with Petra, the master of neon herself. I mean come on... Could it be more magical or serendipitous that I had purchased the perfect yarn for this design from an Indie Dyer from Amsterdam!!!
Ah yes... so since January; there have been many stitches, many hours and many more stitches bringing what was a concept, an idea to life. And it is perfect. More than I imagined I am in LOVE with it. I am so pleased to bring this final work to you. I hope that you enjoy this pattern and create your own color story with it!
